Smoggy Question

So, i searched and came up with nothing. So i decided to make a thread seeing as how this is kind of a unique question... sort of. So i have a 91 hatch and have devised a little plan to get around my CA smog, have two engines. One to rebuild and ka-t and the other to smog. I know itll be a pain but i already own a hoist and it'll be easier than an sr cuz i wont have to swap transmission, wiring harness, etc. Btw i cant get shady people to smog me cuz my dad wont buy into it. So anyway, i can pick up a running ka-e for dirt cheap (like $50), will it be able to smog my car if i rebuild the Ka-de and make it Ka-t. I think i rread in an old thread that having an engine older than the car it wont pass smog. Also , (i know i could search for this but since i already made a thread oh well) what are the benefits if any of a single cam turbo. Also i remeber someone saying something about a sohc/dohc hybrid that sounds pretty interesting, but it could have just as well been BS. Anyway thanks in advance.

well if you have the time and feel like swapping engines every other day and even the smog stuff(like cat and AIV) go ahead, but you will need an engine from same year or later(as in if you have a DOHC you have to put another DOHC enigne cause they'll probably check that)

yea, they check every thing under there. They found a house that wasnt fule hose and I failed cause of it.

Every other day??? try every two years (might be one year now), and ya i dont mind because the more experience i have working on my car, the easier stuff becomes and you have more knowledge. But everyone has their own opinions on what they would and would not do.
