so its basically a stock car, nothing big like an engine swap like everyone else. ive searched for smog stuff, no answers. i got a free 5zigen fireball muffler, not catback from a friend, so that was welded on about a year and a half ago. also got a cone intake, free too of course. (i dont like to spend money to mod my car, so i take whats free from my friends :D) anyway ill be putting back on the stock airbox with aiv stuff... was wonder will i pass smog with that 5zigen in the back there... im here in California, so smog tests are harder :(. should i get my stock muffler rewelded back on before smog or just try with the 5zigen on.

oh yeah, and when they welded the 5zigen, they added a piece from the resonator to the 5zigen because it didnt fit or something. will that effect my emmsions or anything. AND any other advice to make my chances of passing smog better? thanks guys.

If you have a well functioning cat. you will be fine. Dont worry about the AIV, if you pass visual, you will pass smog without it just fine.

Not necessarily. People seem to have a misconception about smog checks here and that the cat alone will pass your smog. False. I can attest to that one. You're in CA, you'll also have to pass the NOx test. That's where I'm failing even with a new cat. The aiv's not too big a deal although it would help lower your NOx a little. More important to you though before going into a smog check is your o2 sensor, spark plugs, cat and of course EGR.

Good luck and I hope you have better luck with smog than I am.
