Guys,

I have my Versa new for about 5 months now. I read a thread before that advised running the fan for a while after turning off AC ( to drive away condensation).

Even if I do so, everytime I turn on AC, there is a moldy kind of smell from the vent and gradually dissapates after 5 minutes. I am in San Jose California and we have not had rain for past 200+ days. So this should not be a normal humidity-related issue, right?

Any one have this issue? Even better, a fix? I am embarrassed to turn on AC when there are other people in the car...

Thanks!!

I have the same problem. and no matter what i've tried it wont go away. i took it to the dealer they looked to see if the AC was draining properly, it was, and there were no visible signs of mold, told me to change the in cabin filter...I did and it still smelled...

my advice just get an air freshner for the car it helps

Unfortunatly that is a normal smell. When the compressor shuts off, it has a lingering smell, and this is true of most new a/c compressors in cars that are designed to be more eco-friendly. Your best bet is to buy a scented cabin filter to help dissapate the smell...

What I've always done to avoid the smell is to switch between recycled cabin air and fresh air. I switch it to fresh for a few hours at least once a week. Living in Florida and Texas with high humidity have forced me to make this a habit.. Hope your smell goes away soon...

Thats the best way to go...I actually took my V into the dealership last week and they told me the same thing to switch back and forth between the two. They actually had in the shop for 2 days and cleaned out the smell with some antibactriel dissenfectant and blew out the AC all day till the smell went away.
