So i posted before about me smelling gas inside my J. So here's the facts:I checked the engine bay while the car was off and on and smelled and looked for any signs of gas and there was none. However, I go into the trunk and i can smell the gas. I don't see no cracks in the tank so I'm completely lost to what it is. Sometimes i have the gas smell in my car and it's really strong; other times i don't smell it at all. Does anyone know what this could possibly be? thanks!

Was the fuel pump replaced recently?

Were the original screws and a new O-ring used?

I'm Gonna take a shot but im pretty sure it's the original fuel pump and i dont think there is new O rings. I replaced the gas cap and bought a new fuel pump relay just trying to take possibilities out. But im guessing it could be the fuel pump so here comes the question: Do i need to use an OEM fuel pump or can i use an aftermarket fuel pump? If so does anyone have any after market fuel pumps that are good?

They will hum when they are about to fail.

Driving alot with a almost empty tank will wear them out pretty quick FYI.

Well i have been filling this bad boy nonstop and the gas consumption seems far less than 13mpg i can park my car then come out from work and it looks like the car took itself for a spin around the block a few times cause my gas is 2 notches lower than it was

Actually I just bought a a fuel pump from TRE performance on ebay, They say they manufacture OEM pumps, ect but the one i got is a 225LPH that is the same as Walbros but "doesnt have the annoying whine like it does" and is "nearly silent" so 80.00 bucks shipped. So i'll install it and let you guys know how it is.
