I have recently bought a used altima and i have noticed that during wide open throttle, while driving, a smell comes in the cabin of the car. the smell is similar to that of someone getting a perm in a salon. any ideas of what can cause this? its not really a rotten egg smell, and my exhaust flow seem good at idle and during higher rpms while in park. and the smell is noticeable driving and then going WOT.

First, check your coolant level in the reservoir to make sure it has adequate fluid.

Then, read this.

Check your timing because too retarded of timing will leave unburnt fuel in the exhaust and everything will run hot after the head because it is still igniting. This means more wear and tear on the exhaust components and stinky cat. rawr!
