Hey all.. Just wanted to share this mount I found on Amazon that works pretty well in our cars, without it looking too bad either. Here's pictures of it mounted in one of the vents. It's really designed to mount in the CD player slot, but once the phone is mounted to it, I hit it with my hand while switching gears. So up in the vent in went and I think it's a better place for it. It's $19.99 on Amazon. Here's the link https://www.amazon.com/Koomus-Pro-CD-Cr ... +Magnet...

The good thing about this mount is that if you have a recent smartphone like an S6, S7, Note 4, 5 or Iphone 6 or 7, it will hold your phone without requiring the usual metal plate stuck to the back of it. Somehow, there's enough metal in these phones for this magnetic mount to work with it just the way it is form the factory.

I like it. How much does it block ventilation air flow?

Do you have pictures of it with the phone on there? can you take a picture of it with it in the CD player?

Trust me. It'll hold on to the bare phone. It holds my heavy S7 Edge very well, WITH a thick case on it. I'm sure its got a stronger grip without a case.

Not enough for me to care. I don't like the vents blowing in my face anyway, so if it did block it a bit, even better :)

Looks nice. Not like those huge holders I see in other cars. Just curious though. Why would you need to mount your phone? My phone links to the car and I leave it in my pants holder. In the event I receive a text, I just wait until I'm at a stop and respond. Otherwise I never look at the phone.

I use it to look at better navigation apps that show ETA, traffic conditions and overall better navigation. Such as Waze or Google Maps. Or.. if I get a text, it will popup right on my screen and I can read it right there. Mostly navigation, better control of music played through bluetooth and sometimes monitoring Torque and OBD2 values.

If you re-read my post and actually visit the link I posted, you'll find the answer is pretty clear.

'yes' or 'no' would take less typing effort, but thanks, I think I'm clear now.

Agreed. Anyhow, I bought the same mount. I kind of like it. Not in love with it. You can mount it either in the CD slot or on the vent. It works on both. If you don't have a case for your phone, keep in mind there's a thin metal plate that you'll need to stick on the back of your phone. I have a case on my iPhone, so I was able to just sit it inbetween the phone and case without sticking it.

I have to agree with big tone it is good not great. Part of it is the car itself. The cd slot is curved so it only gets the right amount of surface area in the middle and it's in the way there. The vents side to side control is in the way so you have to mount it low and it hits my forest air button. If you mount in the slots above the control it make the vent swivel down onto the button. Right side of cd slot isn't too bad.

I only got it for the torque app so it's fine.

I mounted mine in the vent and positioned so that the bottom of my phone gently rests on the dash below. It doesn't hit any buttons though, it kinda falls right below the first row of buttons.
