2004 M45. recently smart key actuates door lock and trunk release intermittently. Red light fast pulsation. Next time works fine. Ignition works fine always. Is this a sign of fading battery? does battery replacement require reprogramming???

No reprograming needed after battery replacement.

it seems subfreezing temps puts the smart key on the fritz. anyone else experience it. I go out in the morning 25 degrees works fine. Start the carand ambient subfreezing temps. when i get out no go. When I return 4 hrs later it works fine.
