I have a 2003 M45 and purchased an extra smart key on eBay. Is there a way to program this used smart key to do everything that my current smart key does? Or do I have to bring it to the Infiniti dealer and have them do it.
Thanks
John

I recently had to get a new smart key for my 2007 M. I took the spare key I bought from Ebay to a locksmith who specializes in smart key programming. Turns out he was unable to get it to do more than unlock the doors. This locksmith tried 4 different infiniti keys from his stock before he found one that would actually do everything - he took the key I bought 'in trade' so there was no charge for the key he used. He charged me $40 to program it and said that was a discounted price because I had to make two trips to his shop.
I checked with my service guy at the dealer after that episode and he told me the M's are among the most difficult of infinitis to program even by the best locksmiths and frequently his guys have to try different infiniti keys before they find one that will accept all the programs do all the functions. He said the G's & FX's are all easy fixes but the Ms are frequently a pain.
So .... after all that blathering ... my advise is to do what I did - use a locksmith who says they specialize in smart keys. Judging from the equipment this locksmith used (something that plugged into the car, and another hand held thing almost the size of a tablet he typed into) I doubt anyone can do this on their own.

Thanks guys. You saved me a lot of hassle. Guess I'll just go to the dealer.

I spoke to the dealer today it's 150 for the fob, 55 for the key and 65 for programing.
I am thinking about buying one from Ebay and getting programmed at the dealer.
Per the seller, it's 30day money back guarantee, it's a chance I'm willing to take.

**Quick update** After researching the sellers and calling them, they said that they have not had any returns on their key so I went ahead and purchase a replacement Smart Key off Ebay for $67.00 here is the website for (http://www.ebay.com/itm/120736178482?ss ... 1439.l2649).
I took it to Infiniti Dealer and was able to program the key.
Here is the hint, don't tell the dealer that you got the key off Ebay, they really hate it and will tell you that Ebay sells fake key and that it most likely wont work, I told them the dealer I got my car from send it to me :-)
Anyways the service manager said they were not able to program it on Option 3 but they were able to program it on Option 2.
So I paid $65 for programming and $68 for the key, Infiniti Dealer wanted $265 - Total savings $150.00. Hope this helps.

FWIW, I have both of my 06 M35 Key fobs...my 06 was totaled, so I still have both, the daily driver one and the backup; which looks brand new. They have different FCC ID #s, so I was told by the dealer they are not compatible with my 09 or I'd have programmed one of them to my 09 to have a 2nd backup. So instead I bought a new Nissan branded key fob, with same FCC info as my 09 keys, however, I have to get that programmed for my 3rd key by the dealer.

However, hit me up if you need an xtra fob, I have no use form them at this point and would rather get rid of to forum member than post on ebay with that hassle.

I wish you would have posted sooner, how much are you looking to sale them, just so other members know.
For 06M FCC ID is CWTWBU618, located under the key, remove the key to see FCC ID.

I too have this issue, I found instructions but they only let me program the lock unlock etc buttons when I try to start the car the key wont turn.

I have spoke with my service adviser and they said they can make it work for $49 which If I can't find any other option will be what I do.

I'd take $100 shipped to the 48.
I have a second one I'll throw in for free that has no microchip in it. (PO lost it and did not tell me) That one will unlock doors & trunk but can't crank the engine.

I'll probably still have it unless someone makes a better offer. Best to PM me when you're ready as I don't get on this site now that my beloved Y34 is no more. I have some other stuff too like a pristine wheel & tire, center caps, engine cover and trunk mat.

do you by any chance have drivers side floor mat, the one that hooks so it wont slide? this has universal weather mats, and the carpet under is tore up so I want something that looks good and wont move around.
