Is it wet all the time??? Only when it rains?? or car wash??

1) Take carpet off or lift it high enough.....

2) Inspect for cracks, bad weld spots,etc....

Hey, I had the same problem with my 93 hatch when I bought it, turns out upon further inspection, there was a rusted hole about the size of a softball about an inch behind the left rear drivers seat mount. Once I gutted the rear of the car, I think i found where the leak was when washing it one day. Water was comming in where the left hydraulic strut for the hatch mounts to the frame. Water came in through the small gasket in the water channel and leaked down through the rear seat belt reel, down behind the paneling, behind and under the rear seat and finally down to the floorboard. I never saw this until the entire rear was gutted. Im guessing it went on for quite sometime since the floor rotted out. I also noticed that before the paneling, seat and rug were removed that water would drip ever so slightly from the plastic cover that goes over the seat belt reel. I hope this helps. Also, this may have been unrelated, my left rocker panel right behind the drivers door was rotted. It appears that the sunroof drain hose drained into the rocker panel, but the water never left the car, I dont think that it caused the floor to rot as well, but it may be something to look into.

just a hunch, but is there any rust/bubling on the roof of the car?

my girlfriend had the same thing. When it would rain her backseat floorboard would become a pond. Turns out the passanger side rear quarter glass seal was shot. THe replaced the seal and all was well.

the wife's hatch had that trouble, it was the hatch weatherstipping. If you have a sunroof it could be that as well.
