Hey guys. I just bought a 03 pathfinder se. I'm getting a vibration while driving. It starts at about 40 and gets a little worse around 50 to 55 and it seems to dissipate at 80 but it's still there.it does it in 2wd havent tried 4wd yet.I just drove it from Columbus oh to frankfort ky and it didn't get any better or worse. Just want to get some ideas before I go lay in the snow and try to figure it out. Do they have a carrier bearing or maybe weights slung off the driveshaft or something. The vibrations aren't in the wheel so it has to be coming from between the transfer case and rear wheels. Any ideas???

And I forgot to say the fuel gauge just reads full and doesn't work.

For the fuel gauge, try running a 20oz bottle of Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner. There may be sulfur causing the fuel sending unit to stick, and Techron may be able to free it. Also try greasing the driveshafts if you haven't yet.

I have the same issue in my 04 (bought August 2013) and was told it was my tires or a bad transmission mount. I'm leaning towards the tires since mine sat a long time before I bought it. Do you feel the vibration mostly in the steering wheel or through out the whole car? I need new tires so my fix will be easy enough (hopefully). You're probably facing the same thing. Especially if the car sat a while before you bought it. Flat spots can develop in the rubber and cause that vibration.

....just wanted to add even though Ive never had this problem...

greasing the slip yoke....someone here had it done...and it alleviated the vibrations / rough ride.

Mines a '98 but i think there is a big rubber bushing/bearing that the drive line goes through and is mounted with a couple bolts under their that can rot out, check that maybe? http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/shop_ ... inder.html
I have to replace mine,it's on the to-do list...

**It might be called a Carrier Bearing.

I found at about 120K miles mine had small vibration that new tires wouldn't fix. I torqued the front wheel bearings and 30k later it still is smooth as a new one.
