I drop my power steering cap inside engine bay, when trying to get it broke one of the 2 small vac lines coming off the large rubber intake hose.plugged the hose on both siides(looks like vacum block in front of car and on main intake hose. NOW car runs way better, better pick up,much more top end. Can I leave it this way without damaging anything.I think the small hose was for charcoal canister. thanks

You have a vacuum leak if the car runs better with the Canister Purge line disconnected and hose plugged. Per EF&EC-188 of the 1994 Q45 service manual.

Chances are you broke off the nipple part of the Carbon Canister, So you need a new one. Unless you have hoses that are extremely brittle and need replacing along with every other hose in the engine bay.

I still have do the knock sensor job bought the whole kit from IOS. But the nipple that broke is not on the canister itself but the front of the engine bay the 2 tiny one that come off the big hose by the mass air flow sensor, just amazing the difference in performance feels so good. I haven't drove the audi s8 since the nipple broke. Picked up rear sway bar from u pull it yard Installed it, so picks up alot better and handles a little better, it was from a T model

The nipple you broke off will pull out of the airtube with the right tool (a pick?) and can be replaced with an OEM piece or a short piece of aluminum tubing that you can get from any hardware store. This is what I had to do in a bind one Sunday morning. I'm surprised she runs better with this broken off since you're letting extra air into the intake after the MAF. How's the gas mileage?

Edit: I Reread the OP's first post. The open lines have been sealed. What you've done is turned off the EGR system and the cannister vent. If the EGR valve won't open then exhaust gases won't be fed back through your engine. I'm not sure about blocking the cannister vent. It's good air that doesn't dirty anything running it back through the intake.

The one thats on the main air I pulled out and cut off circle piece off and used it like a coupling. But the other side where it connects to also broke, that is the side were it looks like a vacum block 2 ports, put a screw in it and block the side on intake. the oter port is still attach which I believe is for the egr. But its still amazing how better it feels. It could be like Paul said vac leak, but yesterday when I opened the hood the side on main intake tube plug fell off and was still driving great the side on the vac block sort of thing was still plugged. Capped off the intake side again. I pulled codes and got knock sensor which I knew about and also injector leak code, I know my number 1 injector is omhing at 15.27, the rest are fine will changed when I due knock sensors. BUt I get a flashing airbag light now maybe I did something wrong when I pulled codes from computer. But she feels really good
