Saw a drip on my driveway today. Im pissed, got my fluid flushed/filled 8,000kms ago and I knew this would happen. Never letting Mr Lube touch my Q again.

Leaking from the gasket or the drain bolt?

You sure it was transmission fluid? PS fluid looks exactly the same

Take a look under the truck n see if you can pin point the source of the fluid. I'd also verify that it is truly tanny fluid and not PS fluid as WOT said.

Touch the drip spot on the driveway and just ensure what fluid it is by visual and/or smelling it. If you know transmission fluid, you'll know the smell.

it might be PS fluid since i went under to look for leaks and didnt see anything suspicious, aside from my totally rotted out running board supports

The transmission seals on R50s are all bad. I put some of the Lucas Transmission Additive in there and it says it stops trans leaks.

no clearly visible leaks under the Q? Check around and under the oil filter. Its located about a foot above the main part of the subframe (big black metal thing which runs side to side). It could be leaking from the oil filter??

Hello All,

I can't seem to find a thread about my problem so I thought I'd throw it up here...I've got an 03 Pathy and have a pretty bad transmission fluid leak dripping down the right side of the frame. The dealer has it now and is telling me it's a sensor that's mounted on top of the transmission bell and that they have to pull the transmission to fix it. They're telling me it's gonna run $1500.00 plus parts to fix it. He made is sound like it's a known problem with them that happens when they hit about 120K miles (mine has 140K). Is anyone familiar with this problem and is it something a non-dealer shop could handle (hopefully for less $$$)??

Thanks in advance

~Jeff

I had PS leaks but mine leaked from the hose that runs along side the rad give it a good check along all the power steering hoses.

Thanks for the reply SR. I finally found a thread that specifically addresses the problem so I'm all set...now I just gotta find a good mechanic that won't charge me an arm and a leg to fix it!

sewanee, I am experiencing the same issues, also told the same thing by the dealer. New dealer I have been going to has been awesome!! Took a look underneath while vehicle was in the air. The trans fluid leaks from pretty high up. Can you post a link to the thread that address this problem?? Thanks, in the meantime I am going to try some stop leak product.

Any luck with that? Did you end up selling your Path?

Yesterday added the Lucas Transmission additive, it was $11.99 from Auto Zoner. Will see if this helps. Pretty thick stuff.
