my car is having the same problems it had when one of the spark plugs was f***ed.

when i give it gas it slowly starts to die, but the rpms go up like normal.when this happens, my car spits out black smoke.i turned it off, tried to turn it back on and it would just crank.. gave it gas when doing this after a few failed attempts and the car would turn on, then die right after.

first time around it was the sparkplugs.now i dont know what it is...

any suggestions?

Well Black smoke would imply your running rich, excess fuel.

So I'm gonna assume you have an issue with fuel somewhere. Is the car stock

Pull and check the plugs again. Could be a bad fuel pressure regulator. Might also be an injector or two went bad on you. Are you using any type of aftermarket ECU and/or fuel system upgrades (pump, injectors, etc)?

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the Crank Position Sensor, but in your situation it could be many things. Good luck buddy.

Yes, absolutely. Could be stuck in lean mode causing it to run rich. How do you know the sensor is bad? But yes, that could do it!

I dont know for sure, but if im running rich, it wouldnt hurt to replace the o2 sensor since its fairly cheap.i dunno if thats the original o2 sensor or not... lol

but yea,it is definitely fuel related. when it has starting prolems and its just cranking while i give it gas i can smell gas...

i'm going to replace my o2 sensor asap,

i did the spark plug wire check by pulling the wires off one by one while the car idled and everything was ok...

im pretty stumped with this.

on the bright side...im getting a pretty good chunk from tax returns...
