Spray on tail tints came out too dark, have to wet sand them to take some color off and polish them but looks better than stock (atleast on black) Painted AC vents and window controls, matches up pretty close except for steering wheel covers (don't know how to remomve them )

Looks good man, I dont think its too dark.

I was thinking of going the spray route on mine. Did you use the stuff suggested in the write up on here? How may coats did you do?

Thanks, I ended up wet sanding them down to take some of the tint off, you could bearly see the brake light during the day.I wasn't aware of the writeup , went to Autozone looking for the Charcoal paint for the vents and happened to see this tint spray, it't RUST-OLEUM tint spray, did 4 coats, looked nice but was a ticket waiting to happen. Wetsanded them late last night and buffed them, they look lighter in tint, have to buff them a couple of more times since they are not that shiny yet after the wetsanding.

I mean, its pretty self explanatory, you take them off and paint them, but just to see what stuff he used its good. Still not sure if I want to paint or do overlays yet. I think the stuff he recommends can be removed with nail polish remover, good to have in case the tickets start piling up.

Yeah, I remember seeing it , if I do get problems from the LAW I guess I'll have to wetsand them even more, initially I was going to leave two circles for brake and reverse light but I didn't think it would look good.I'll have to cross my fingers and avoid cops or I will have to get LED bulbs.

Just found a product called VHT Nite Shades. $9.99/can , think I might give it a try.

Yeah, 4 coats is too much, even tells you that on the back of most bottles, not to exceed 3 coats. I did like 2 1/2 myself, lol.

Do two coats and look how dark they come out, I made the mistake of not looking first and it came out too dark, good luck.

I know I did read the can instructions but didn't think it was going to get so dark, I actually like it like this , I actually ordered LED bulbs for tail/brake it will make a difference.

Did either of you pre-sand?

I just read a right up on a Z forum where the dude pre-sanded so there was NO gloss left on the light. Then 3 coats, clear coat, sand, clear coat, buff.

Bundy did you clear coat? I actually called around and no one has that VHT brand in stock so Im going Rusto myself. Need a project for the weekend.

To me the most natural effect is wetsanding and buffing, it looks real natural, but it is time consuming. That's just me, probably somebody else like to clearcoat.

Mine really has no gloss just about and I didn't clear coat or sand, just sprayed.
