New to the 94 Q45 I notice that accelerating out of a slow corner is .... well.. slow. The trans does not seem to want to pick a lower gear unless a lot of throttle is applied. The result is a sluggish exit.

The car is very normal from a standing start, and all engine parameters are oK. Is this typical of the breed?

Generally a Q transmission shifts well there is however a "dead" spot (these numbers apply for 90-93 might be slightly different for 94/96)

Its when the rpms are too high for it to want to downshift, but just too low to make good power yet.

this is between 28-37 mph in the first gens I have owned. At that speed it is goping just too fast be be willing to downshift into first, but too slow to deliver good powerOne easy solution is to use the gated shifter, start out in "1" go thry "2" into "3" or 'D".Or just take it from "3" (where it should be for in town driving anyway IMHO) to "2" for nearly similair effect.

Altertively the JWT TCU helps some but is not a panacea.

Fred...:)
