I noticed my 89 s13 is a little rocket for a stock 4 cylinder after the 20mph mark. But the accelerates like a sloth till 20mph. Is this natural, or is something not quite rite. Also it is an automatic =(, I know if it was stick it would help the accel process. I meen it is so pitiful that in barely has enough power to make a slight slip on gravel and I am not even talking in a good way of traction here. I was thinking a short ram or cool air intake would work but I got confused with all those hoses and wires all over the place to the air box, not as simple looking as my 88 z cars' intake.

5 spd makes a big diffrence. i got a 90 240 with the same sohc engine and mine is a 5spd and i installed a lsd. getting to 20 mph quickly is no problem at all. none of those rubber hoses run to the air box. only rubber hoses runnin to the plastic intake tube is by the throttle body (3). you should have a air intake sensor on the intake box if you have a late 89 model, early 89's dont have this sensor.

I checked out the faq, but it doesn't contain any useful info on the tps for sohc engine, just some rambling of a guy purchaseing one and not needing it.

As a z car driver myself I will help you out if you can help me out with this problem. 88-89 turbo z cars should work for sure as many of my fellow z31 drivers will put 240sx 4.11 open diffs into their cars. its all r200 in the long run, not to say if it is a direct bolt in without problems though as I am very new to the whole 240sx thing. Oh one other bit of info, 88-89 turbo's were 3.7 clutch style lsd, were as the 88 SS aka SE aka Shiro Special which is very rare had a 3.7 viscous style lsd.
