From a dead stop when I floor it, the car hesitates (looses power) at least twice before changing gears and from then all seems fine.

If I accelerate slowing/normally then the gears shift smoothly.

Any thoughts as to what may be causing this?

Does it feel like transmission slippage?

Do the RPM's drop, like in a hesitation, or rise, like clutch slippage?

Check the transmission fluid, possibly do a flush/filter change.

You might consider adding some transmission treatment.

Mine has it's bad days, and feels like a clutch slipping, sometimes. I notice it more, when I try to accelerate, while the car is at about 1700 RPM cruise. I know the torque convertier stalls at about 2300 RPM, so it could just be that. Once I make a shift at 5,500 or 4,500 RPM, it appears to be fine. I just chalk it up to a rebuilt transmission, with 87,000 miles on it.

I was noticing this also....ran the self diagnostic on the transmission.....got a code 3- throttle position sensor circut malfunction. I ran the check for the circut and the plug connection at the throttle body was dirty....cleaned it and problem went away. I highly suggest running the self diagnostic in the manual. Don't let something little screw up your transmission..... big $$$ are involved in a replacement.

There are around 37-40 on engine related connectors under the hood: from individual coil and injectors all the way to CAS and MAF.

After a car is 3-4 years old all these should be periodically checked for corrosion and protected against water.
