Anyone ever heard about the SLR Motorsports chips?

http://slrmotorsports.com/shop...p=366

They seem quite brazen and confident of this chip. I saw the add on NICO club. Anyone used this chip yet? I might try it!

I do not have one for any of the cars that use it, but 3 of my friends have stupidly modded wrxs/stis and they all have accessports. They are amazing and within the next few months if i pick up an sti it will be the first thing i purchase for the car. They come with a bunch of maps preloaded and when you get a tune then all you have to do is save the map on it, the best part is that you can revert to stock whenever you want. I heard that they were having a problem with the vq's??? But they have one for the z so i don't know why they don't have one for the g yet. If they do/ or did come out with one of them i would highly recommend getting it. We used to use an opensource program to do the tuning but that was a pain sometimes, had to have the laptop etc etc. If you can find a open source program and someone local that knows what they are doing then you just need a cable and maybe a 12 pack and you got a tune. What is sweet about the AP is that it is a code reader(CELs) and can feed you info while you are driving.

I wouldn't waste my money on "Chips". Stick with Doritos, you'll get more for your dollar.

Now that access port by Cobb, I am seriously looking into that. If the house sells, that might be the first purchace.

Am I the only one who wants to know what this thing is capable of and WHY they don't make any actual claims other than "up to 5%-10%..." fuel economy.

All you need is navigation to improve fuel economy. I've read of people who leave their fuel economy screen up while they drive and adjust accordingly. That has very little to do with the Super Amazing Wonder Port by Cobb.

Let's see some actual HP gains. Let's see cleaner emissions. Let's see SAFE AFR trimming to allow for REAL fuel savings.

They have a fuel economy map that you can throw on the lowers the rev limiter and various other things to conserve gas.

When I'm driving for economy, I don't push it past 4k, usually try to shift at 3k.

Also, the "Flashing" shift indicator is already a feature on the G. I'm not trying to be all negative, it just sounds like a really expensive gadget that does what we can already do.

Lets be honest, no one is going to spend $700 to save 3% in fuel. It's a worthless investment with way too long of a ROI.

The only reason for buying this is the additional 20 or so HP. They do show a dyno graph. It may not be an actual dyno sheet, but I can run my car on the dyno, add some blinker fluid, and show you a gain. It all depends on the dyno operator, and the dyno settings.

Also I would have to agree, there is a lot of good talk of these units on the Suby boards.

I do agree with you on the fact that buying it solely for the mileage thing is not worth it. They seem to be more useful if you have a turbo.

BINGO!

I'll eat my words if I'm wrong, but I have a feeling that this product won't show amazing gains without FI.

Noah,

I wouldn't buy it soley for the 3% either, but I'd like more info than they post on their site. Everything seems vague.
