The car is, of course, a 2004 Maxima SE with all options except power sunroof, nav system, and elite package.

This has happened once before while my mother was driving the car, but it stopped before I had a change to hear it for myself.

Now it's happeneing again, and shows no sign of stopping.

There's a chirping, piezo-style beep every 2 minutes. It SEEMS to be originating from behind the gauge cluster (to me it seems like it's behind the left pod--the fuel gauge one), but it could be my ears playing tricks on me.The car shows no warning indicators, no idiot lights, nothing on any display. It happens with the car running, or with the car off. It happens with the ebrake on or off, the car in any gear, moving or stopped, seatbelts on or off. The trunk is closed. Hood is closed. Fuel level is high, and the low fuel indicator is off.

The car has 23,xxx miles on it, so we thought perhaps it was related to the 22500 mile maintenance schedule, but I can't see exactly how...

I've spent about 20 minutes sitting in the car, flipping switches back and forth, messing with electronics, putting my seatbelt on and off, ebrake on and off, turning the engine on and off...Nothing I do has any effect on the beep, and there is no visual indicator to accompany it. I did have the radio off through all of this (though when the beeping started the radio was on).

I have no idea what this is. Hopefully someone does. It's not all that annoying--but not being able to determine why the car is beeping is not reassuring.

As always, thanks for any help!-MoD

On the dash, the right most controls, for navigation system or satellite radio/fuel economy, etc... there is one that says "Scheduled Maintanance". You probably need your oil changed or your tires rotated. If that is the problem, just click the button so that it brings you to the oil change screen (click it twice for tire rotation), once there click and hold the button to reset the counter. Hope this helps. It bothered me too when I needed to change my oil in my '04.

Nope. Not that. Nothing on the trip computer screen. Different beep from the scheduled maintenance notification, too.

I figured out what it was.My dad's cell phone was in the sunglasses holder above the rear view mirror, and it was giving it's low battery chime.

False alarm.

Damn...I spent FOREVER trying to figure it out... hahaha.

Thanks though, seyath.
