This site is great and I have used it to help me purchase my Q. I have the slow windows problem and I cleaned the windows with who knows how many q-tips soaked in window cleaner. I cleaned it to the point that the q-tips were not black any more and then sprayed the tracks with some white grease. That was in late January and it was still quite cold here, now its March (today was +10C, according to the digital thermometer) and the windows are slower than ever. I'm at the point where I'm willing to replace the motor now because I live in an apartment and it is a huge pain to roll down the window to swipe the fob an then have to pull the window up while it struggles to roll up. I can't find any info here on taking the driver side panel off, is there anyone who knows where the write up is or if there is one?

Welcome to NICO!

You can try spaying silicone spray in the window tracks to clean them out. The tracks are located at either side of the windows. See this thread for more info.

Thanks for the welcome, I got the silicone spray and sprayed the crap out of the tracks and it is working great now. Just one question, how long on average will it last from your experience?

Last time I tried I think it lasted around 6 months. I'd imagine that depends on your climate and how often you use the windows.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm from Ottawa and it goes from really cold to really hot and I use the window everyday. As long as it is not once a week or once a month then I am fine with that, two to four times a year is not a problem considering how quick and easy it is. The only problem is wiping down the window everyday because of the residue, again wayyyyyyy better than listening to a motor that sounds like it wants to die. Again thank you!

Hahahahaha, I was wondering if there was anyone on here from Ottawa considering I see a Pathfinder or Qx4 almost daily! Sucks that the leafs kicked the sens butts last saturday though. :frown:

Ya, I hear ya. I'm a pretty hard core Sens fan and former season ticket holder.
Hope they can hang in there for a playoff spot, but right now I'm a little concerned about how they are playing.
Just curious: where did you find your Q?
I'm always on the lookout for a good used R50, but here in Ottawa, most of them have rust issues.
I oil spray/rust proof mine every year, but I still have rust spots showing up. Very frustrating.
FYI, I'm in Barrhaven.

If Anderson comes back and plays like he did before the injury then look out. I bought the Q in Toronto, I looked at a couple here in the fall and they were too rusted. This one has some rust but was undercoated quite nicely, even a stealership mechanic was impressed. I have been waiting for the weather to get warmer to make sure its not too bad (behind the running boards towards the rear wheels) but its not getting any warmer out! I can't imagine finding a R50 in this part of the world without some rust.

Did your Q have the strut housing recall done on it? If not, then I would contact one of the dealers to have it checked out.
I still take my truck to Tony Graham Nissan in Bells Corners, and they have been great.
I was in Arizona last year, and saw a few nice R50's there. Unfortunately, I have no way of getting one back to Canada, plus I don't have a clue about the rules/process re: border crossing, duty, etc. Oh well.
Cheers.

I ran the VIN through a dealership before I purchased it and they told me that it had been repaired. I think I will take mine to Tony Grahams if I need to go back to a dealership, I went to 417 and was not impressed. If you really are interested in importing an R50 from Arizona it's not as painful as you may think. A friend of mine bought a car through auction from Arizona in '11 and the process wasn't too bad for him. I can't remember the exact cost but he had the car shipped to the Niagara Falls border crossing for about $1500. At the border you only pay the GST and then whatever province you register the car in you pay the PST there.

Hey, thanks for the tip.
The reason I was in Arizona last year was an auction as well. I attended the Barrett-Jackson auction. Loved every minute of it.
Didn't buy anything, but had a great time.
I'll be in Florida next winter for about a month, so I'm going to have a good look around when I'm there.
