Hey guys I've had this neo in my s13 for about a year and it dosnt spool turbos very fast. I dont really know whats wrong with it. I never changed the timing belt, or checked to timing for that matter. I got a t04e with a .63ar on it right now and I dont see full boost till like 4500. I was wondering if any of you other neo guys could help?

Thats a sizeable turbo... when did the factory turbo spool by? Your timing belt will have nothing to do with your spool time. I dont have a NEO but i think that should be about right for a journal bearing turbo...

On the stock turbo I didnt get full boost untill 3500 where others have told me they get full boost at like 2800. The only reason I would say timing belt is because I figured if the timing was off the compression might be lower causing slower spool.

I've checked every where its been like this for a while now. My car also runs really lean at idle. It would start to miss and almost cut off. I turned the idle up by the control valve.

Don't just look for a leak visually. Make a boost leak tester with a can, old oil filter, pvc cap, or something like that. I think you'll be surprised.

Boost leak tester? can you explain this. The only way I know of to find a boost/vaccume leak is visually or with a can on starter fluid. I tried both. I still only pull about 18" of vaccume.

get you a peice of pvc pipe (cap) that you can stick into the beginning of your intake plumbing. clamp it down so that it seals. take some compressed air and fill your system with presure. you can do this by drilling hole in the pvc cap large enough to pop in a tire valve. once thats installed throw that setup on your car and fill it with air. it shouldnt take a whole lot of air to fill up your system. once youve got some pressure in there, use a spray bottle with soapy water and spray your intake system down eveyrwhere. if there is a leak the air coming out will blow bubbles due to the soapy water...thats the easiest way.

ok I made a leak tester just like you said and I did find a leak. It was an ic coupler. Now I'm pulling 19.5" vaccume I had a hard time hearing the leaks though because I was using a bike pump to provide the air pressure.Next time I guess I'll find a compressor. It was mad getto but worked. Thanks!!

Glad you found the problem. Your using a tire valve, right? Just go to the closest gas station.

anytime man, glad it helped you out...you should have used a bottle filled with soapy water. you wouldnt have to listen for it but just see it. anyways(we've ALL been there at least once)!!

I still dont get full boost unitl 4000 but its a noticeable difference! My motor just doesnt feel stable at higher rpms (5-7k) I still think there's a timing issue. I can hear the valves ticking really loudly the whole time I'm driving?
