ok im new here and have been doing my best on searching the issue. i bought a 94 q base with 160,xxx on it about 2 weeks ago now when i bought it i knew i would hit some bumps seeing as it was real cheap and it looks great. so now as of yest. the car is idleing fine but has a little shake and when accelerating it takes a min to kick in then goes fine but sometimes at highway speeds when i go to accel in sputters until i give it more gas . i just started hearing a buzzing near the back passenger side (which i found a post on just cant seem to find it again). also the cel comes on and off but when i got it checked only thing that came up was the maf which i will be replacing or correcting that issue as soon as im free. i haven't done any maintenance to her yet haven't got a free minute, plan to do plugs oil change ect.. i just dont know where to go with this problem maybe fuel pump, injector it is my daily driver so i want to correct the issue as soon as i can. i will continue to search but any help would be great. love the car already deff a step up from my 4th gen maxima so im gunna do my best to get her running right.

At 160k miles it's time for a fuel pump. Do it soon before it takes out the fuel pump controller (FPCU) which can be a very expensive part if replaced with new. YOu can tee in to the fuel line and measure the pressure. S/B 34psi at idle and 44+psi under load.

Ohm test your injectors (and knock sensors). You probably have a dead one (or two).

Pull the ECU and leave it laying on the floorboard plugged in until you get through these issues. It's easy to pull codes but a PITA rib bruiser to pull the ECU every time to check them. It's located behind the kick panel on the passenger side. Look for a 1" square tab of carpet covering a 10mm bolt.

You nailed the problems on the head. Since you had a MAF ECU code check the MAF connector and MAF pins for corrosion and clean and tighten the connectors pins for a snug fit.

Always OEM on all but perhaps the injectors. Heath has a thread on some US manufactured after market. Wonder if he has update it lately?

ok so i took the q to a local shop that ive had to alot of my work on my old maxima . there is a injector thats no good,#3 i was there while everything was apart and noticed that the o rings around most of the injectors where worn so im going to replace those as well as #3.when i did the self check for the transmission malfunction nothing came up and shop said same thing so i dont know where to go next with that? i cleaned the maf and when i did drove like a newer car but still has the hesitation im guessing because the injector.but when i did that the cel was still on had it rechecked and code p0600 a/t came up was told it could be a bad connection between tcm and ecm? and suggestions on that ? and i have started all the maintenance on it oil change p.s fluid.... but i have one more question i havnt searched it yet but is it recomended to get a transmission flush? Thanks for all the help again still waiting for a little nicer weather to get pics up here

transmission flush is a good idea. Warwick RI, i saw a green 94-96 Q when i was down that way last. That the one you picked up? Warwick is full of good mechanics maybe NE tech might be able to help you out too. They have an excellent automotive campus just ask around.

nah i grabbed a blue 94 ive seen a few clean ones driving around over here .. and yea i just recently graduated from ne tech but not for electrical sciences, but i do have some friends over there but the way they work is they have to be doing what you need done that quarter for them to be allowed to do the work.but if you can get the timing right your all set .their paint shop over there is also real good so if you ever need body or paint work done thats the spot to go

and also ive herd that doing a transmission flush at such high mileage could get rid of all the sludge and such thats keeping it going?

I actually had some success in December on a migh mileage 90 model by changing the fluid. The fluid looked like "dark brown" motor oil. I think if you get that much sludge in a transmission, it will just be a matter of time before it fails.

Crazy cuz I just hit a nasty Jersey pothole last night & my tcs off, slip & CEL came on. And she's idling very rough. Doing some forum searching & came across this thread. Gonna bring it to Meineke & get to the bottom of it!

Problem solved! Meineke hooked it up to the computer & it was code p1320 (ignition coils). The computer description said because that code didn't show up with some other code, it couldn't determine which ignition coil(s) it is so...replace all coils. I assume most mechanics would have given the avg customer this answer but my mechanic really works with me.

So he used the computer to shut down each cylinder 1 by 1 & had me feel & listen for any difference in idle. When cylinder 5 was shut down, the idle remained rough but did not get any worse the way the others had when shut down. So we narrowed it down to either the ignition coil and/or injector for cylinder 5 was no good. So he ordered 1 ignition coil ($110 Hitachi), installed it & now when I'm sitting at a red light, I can't even tell my car is running. Plus, acceleration is back 100%. I really like this car when it's running great! :yesnod
