Guys ,, This might be a total fluke but..

My J over the last week has seemed a bit sluggish .. idle a tad rough ect.Planned on doing some diags this weekend ..This morning it started right up and I drove to work.Started it up to go to lunch and it barely turned over enough to start and was running rough as heck ,, and the battery light was fluttering. Not on solid ..Just fluttering enough to where I could see it. Went straight to Autozone and had them test the Battery .Battery was Toast.Gotta new Battery with 650 CCA and DANGed if I cant light the rear up like the ole days again !!!Idle smooth as glass ect.Im guessing as the battery was dying the Coilpacks werent getting a full charge ??

Anyway .. Im speedracer once again !!!

well if youre speed racer then i guess ill be racer X...lol....i bought an optima deep cycle yesterday b/c i have soo much electric pulling that i dont think my alternator can keep up and theres not much i can mount in the brackets of the old one....after i adjusted the timing my J is once again running strong @ WOT except for some minor fuel issues around 40mph if im not flooring it...as long as i keep it at 3000rpms im good...if you ever find youre way down here give me a shout

Will do !!

It looks like Im gonna have to get a alternator as well.Ride home yesterday was fine, but this morning ,, even though it cranked over as fast as usual, the battery light started flickering , as well as the parking brake light. sigh ..Gonna have to go with a autozone rig too as cash flow with putting a kid through college cant swing an OEM.Hope it makes it through the summer at least.

im running an autozone rig right now and it seems to be doing the trick....my electric fan pully around 60 amps and my 2 ten inch sub and 1000w monoblock...well who knows how much that pulls....but the alternator seems to be doing the trick...im definately going to invest in a capacitor as soon as possible though....if you do end up going to autozone go with an alternator for a 300zx twin turbo...it fits in the same brackets(obviously) and instead of rated at 70 amps like our Js its rated at 90

dAYYUUM That Alternator was a biznatch.

Next time wont be as tough but the Alt I got for some reason changed the belt length.I had to grind out about an extra inch on the tensioning slot bracket to even get the belt on.Then the adjusting bolt wouldn't reach the adjuster so I had to get a longer bolt to be able to tighten the belt up.Sure glad thats over and done.
