I have a 92 240sx and tonight it started stalling and wont start for awhile until i crank it for like 1 minute strait and wait for about 10 minutes. When it starts it immediatly stalls again unless you give it gas. After you give it gas it starts to squeek bad until the belt catches and then it runs fine. when its driving it seems to have no acceleration and if i let off the gas it feels like a person who cant drive a clutch. When i push down teh clutch the rpms drop to 500 then when i get to about 5 mph it goes to 1000 ( my weird normal idle). My question is can a belt slipping that bad make a car not start? And if not what else should i look for tomarrow morn. I couldnt see **** tonight and i couldnt look it over. I smelt gas but i think that was because i flooded it. Ehh damn car. Any help is appiated!!

you may have a leaking injector, dont rule that out. if you smell gas, that may be the source. a belt slipping wouldnt affect the starting to my knowlage because when its not sliping, it offers more resistance then when it is sliping, so a sliping belt not turning the ps ( i assume its the ps belt, usualy is) pump will not be as hard for the crank to turn. it realy sounds like your running rich, is there any black smoke when you do get it running?

does that all make sence

i used to have this problem with mine. its a 93, so im pretty sure its almost the same as yours. sometimes when i would start it, it would just stall, and then when id put in the clutch, the RPMs would drop almost all the way down, and all the little dash lights would come on like the key was turned but the car was off, then it would jump back up to 700 or so. also when the car would start, id have to leave it alone, take my foot off the brake, engage the handbrake, and wait for it to stop squealing...magically it fixed itself...the problem stopped after about 2 and a half weeks...i think it was because of humidity because my belts feel almost new, and the tension is perfect.

do our problems sound the same?
