After the car has been out in the rain, I hear water in the left rocker panel. Obviously there must be a drain that has clogged, but I don't see it upon inspection? Can anyone tell me where the drain holes are, or what the problem may be if I have diagnosed it incorrectly? Driving around on a sunny day with water sloshing at my left side is annoying, not to mention creating a future rust problem. Thanks for any help!Steve Hostetter

Steve,

Welcome to NICO! What year is your Q45?

Might want to check the sunroof drains first... they go from the front corners of the sunroof area to somewhere forward of the front doors.

Car is a 1995. 210,000 miles, interior is an 8, exterior is an 8. Sunroof drains are all clear. The water is trapped down low in the body. So it's getting down throught the sunroof drains to the lower portion of the drainn system before it gets trapped. Any other thoughts?

I believe there are drains for the windshield cowling that drain on each side into the fender well. Perhaps the fender is not draining. Jack up the car, pull the tire and remove the plastic fender guard. Good Luck

Wow i dont know how that could happen.... Interesting... I dont think hes talking about the fender, but the rocker panel (under the doors)...

Heres the solution: If you take the drivers seat out (easy, 4 bolts and a connector) and you pull the carpet back, there are holes on the frame of the car that have paper plugs on them... take the paper out and you can suck the water out that way... I would consider drilling holes also, but i would try the former method first as drilling is not a good idea unless its absolutely necessary...

How big are these holes on the floor panels? Could we pour some Evaporust down there and let it work around till all the rust from the inside of the rocker panel is gone?

I am sanding done the rockers and coving them with POR-15 tommorow.

No answer...No surprise...

I found a way to do what I need easier than I thought too.
