KA24E automatic1989 240sx 55,000 miles

upon start up, it fells like it turns over fine but when it initially starts and i let off the key, it dies. but starts back up and idles finenew parts:engine temp sensorengine temp sending unitfuel filterair filter plugs seem newwires seem newchenged a few vacume hoseseverything seems to check out OKbut this came with an aftermarket cone filter and im thinkin it may be related to this sensor that is rigged into the stock hose.it is after the MAS and it has 2 bolt holes, i guess it bolted to the stock box?you guys think this is the culprit?thanxRyan

most likely no, from your discription, that sounds like the iat sensor.(intake air temp)

yeah thats what i thought it was, i knew it had somethin to do with temprature.well any guess as to what may be causeing the starting issue?anyone?

if the holes are after the maf sensor, i would plug them up, it can cause the car to run lean at lower rpms and may cause the problem you are describing. there should not be any leaks in the intake piping after the maf or there will be unmetered air entering the system.
