Sloppy Shifter

ok my shifter feels VERY loose so if i was to hop in the seat and wiggle the shifter left to right (not in gear but in "neutral") it has alot of play in it so i took it apart and realized the plate that the shifter sits in has a missing part in the center directly behind the shifter that holds the it up from sitting on the drive shaft so i was wondering where can i find this plate and what is it called

ahah i wondered the same thing.... the piece is called a shifter support plate if your talking about what i think you are talking about. Mine got broke when i had my engine removed and they didnt use a transmission stand . I got mine used off of ebay for $20, but you can get a new one from Z1 motorsports...and if you havent used them, they are trustworthy and reliable.

You may also want to invest in new shifter bushings while your at it...i cant find the link for the DIY, but look around, its aggravating, but cheap and definitely worth it. Replace with metal (bronze or copper maybe?) bushings if you do.

Aw, piss. I knew I was missing something minor/major from my swap, lol. Thanks for posting this reminder up, haha.

@dantesdoom thanks i found the parts i think imma try order it tomorrow if all goes well..... and about the shifter bushings i only found one nut holding the shifter up in place, check this out now attached to a door lock part (like off of a house door) i'm like

Yeah the bushings I'm talking about are down where the shifter attaches to the shifter linkage to the transmission....I know the nut your talking about, i would love to see a picture of how this has been rigged.
