Hi everyone. I have a 2009 FWD rogue and strange symptoms started a few days ago as soon as the weather got colder here, not sure if it's some how related.

When I start the car from cold, after a few seconds while I am still parked, I hear the ABS engaging and usually both the VRC and slipping light come on at the same time too. Also the red brake light on the dash board flashes a few times and the speed meter bounces up and down quickly. This all happens while the car is not moving and the emergency brake pedal is not pushed. This issue lasts for few seconds and it goes away. The worse part when these lights come on while driving on a nice dry road with no ice and the car "thinks" I'm slipping. When this happens, I pull over and restart the car and everything goes back to normal!

I read some owners had similar issues and not sure if this is related to a faulty speed sensor or something else! Any suggestions from where to start solving this issue besides taking to the dealer? I live in MN and it doesn't feel safe to drive with these issues. Thank you

An update on this issue. It turns out the whole problem was due to a faulty speed sensor. I used a multimeter and tested the front wheel sensors for resistance, one of them (passenger side) had a fluctuating read instead of a steady read like the driver side. I already replaced the speed sensor of the passenger side and drove the car for a test on a slushy snowy road (I live in MN) and everything worked fine. ABS and slipping activated only when they should. I will be driving the car more and if the issue happened again, I will update my post.

Nice job diagnosing the problem! Thanks for coming back with the solution.
