i think my clutch might be slipping. first of all, it shakes alot when i start to release the clutch in first, and then it wil start to speed up normally and then it will start to lag and the rpms seem to be moving up but the car is not going much faster. is it a slipping clutch??

not only do you need a clutch but that shake could be the isolator soprings let go, might have trashed your flywheel

click the link in my sig for great prices on aftermarket clutches and flywheels, as for labor, it's gonna cost you, I'd expect 3-400 on labor

I just did my clutch/flywheel with a friend (same problem, rev's would climb before it caught)-- its not that difficult but if you don't have good help and a place to do it, you should bring it to a shop. expect to pay about 4 hours shop time, even though it will probably take less with appropriate tools and a lift.

Clutch kit & flywheel will probalby be over 4 bills, but you can always have the old one machined if its not too far out-of-spec and save yourself some $ at the cost of time.
