I'm not sure what you are talking about. What lag?

turn off the VDC if your talking about when your wheel spins/slip and the computer backs off on the throttle making it lag.

Ya, i hate that...its far too sensitive IMO. I hate to turn it off unless I'm about to show off...Hate to get into an accident and say, man I wish I'd had the VDC on.

Didn't even think about the VDC. In any case it can be defeated, though I recall hearing in a magazine article that it will still interfere or turn back on if the ABS is activated. Just press the VDC button on the lower left of the dash. I actually turned mine off most of the time. It was way too intrusive for me. It almost caused an accident when I tried to merge into traffic from a stopped lane. I had plenty of room, but it kicked in just as I made my move and totally bogged me down as a car was approaching. I had lots of room, but I'm sure the guy coming up had to slow down a little. I hate making people slow down when I merge into a lane. I'm sure it made me look like an inconsiderate prick as well. I did leave it on when it rained though...

Remember the VC/ABS software is set for oem soft fast wearing tires!

If you substitute tires that are harder or harder longer wearing or even let the oems age you will get faster and faster [sooner] engagement of the systems!

Above really critical in wet stops!

Can someone verify the VDC operation, if switched off, when the ABS is activated? That would be good to know...

VDC is the Vehicle Dyanamics control. Basically a glorified traction control that helps to keeo you from losing control of the car. The VDC OFF button turns it off. Though, ABS supposedly still remains active.

No idea what the OP is asking... From what he wrote, it sounds like some sort of lag at higher speeds 70mph+ maybe (hence the speeding part). You wouldnt technically be speeding from 0-60 where vdc is traction is usually turned off.

Hey all,

since this has already been jacked.....

I m planning on buying a G35 coupe in the spring, but I was just wondering a couple of things about control (of a G) and this VDC thread is good timing... i currently drive a S14 (auto) and i am a little apprehensive about the power difference between a G and a 240... is the G a hard car to handle for a novice/normal driver? I do like to drive fast sometimes and LOVE to corner. Does the VDC really help?

cheers

Actually not at all. Certainly, it accelerates quicker, and handles better out of the box, but is not unmanagable. The car will feel a bit different as it is heavier, but behaves quite nicely for a car that is 3400-3500 lbs. You will not be disappointed. Like any car, take a little bit of time to get to know the car before letting loose, but the transition should be easy.

I owned an S13 and a turbo S14 before getting a G.
