so i'm driving, using the tiptronic shifting. from a stop, i go from 1st to 2nd to 3rd, when all of a sudden at about 3700 RPM's in 3rd gear, the needle drops about 200RPM's to 3500 RPM's and something that can only be described as a "slip" occurrs in the accelleration. my foot never lifts from the pedal, but there is an obvious difference at right about 3700 RPM's.

this has been happening for months now. it only happens during tiptronic shifting not automatic, and it only happens when i cycle from 1st to 2nd to 3rd, never when downshifting. it ONLY happens in 3rd, and it does not matter what speed or how hard i accellerate. i have taken it to Nissan, and they say it is the torque controller kicking in and locking up, creating the "slip". they also went as far as to tell me that they were able to replicate it in a 3.5, and another SER, but could not take me on a drive in either car to show me their findings. i personally have driven 2 SER's (similar mileage) and was unsuccessful in replicating any type of "slip". the thing is, i know my car. i can pinpiont the exact day that this started, the day i picked up my car from Nissan after they replaced a valve in my transmission, and unnecessarily flushed it. as soon as i got onto the freeway, i was headed back to the dealership, where they quickly told me, it was normal and that i just hadn't noticed it before. rrrrrrrrrrright.

like i said, i know my car, like i know my woman. if something is wrong, i'm going to know it! i knew it RIGHT AWAY! as soon as my car got to 3700 RPM's in 3rd gear i knew it! it is a very obvious "slip", and SHOULD NOT be a normal occurrence in a performance vehicle. accelleration should be smooth and uninterrupted.

anyone have any ideas? suggestions? solutions?

I've heard many times where dealerships are very reluctant to perform warranty service relating to the transmission. It sounds like the TC or a solenoid is giving you trouble. How does the ATF look/smell?

Bottom line is that you might want to consult another dealership or wait for it to start giving you obvious signs or troubles that a dealership cannot wave away.

Well first of all Welcome (I know you have 3 post but I wasn't around for your 1st ) nice to have another SE-R on here but sounds like the dealer KNOWS they messed up and they don't want to fix it for free like stated above take it somewhere else and see what they say keep us updated
