Slightly shorter tires on 99 Q45T - possible ill effects...

Winter is approaching and I am looking to get ready for the heavy snow falls of minnesota. My 99 Q45T has stock tires sized 225/50 17 load index is 95 and Speed rating is V.

I have a like new set of 15" 215/60 15 wheels with snow tires load index 94 - speed rating T. I checked the size, it seems the 15" tires will be around 3% shorter than the OEM 17" tires.. Do you guys think I will be taking a big risk driving around in shorter tires.. What are the possible mechanical draw backs of using such short tires..

They won't fit. Why Infiniti went to a 16" wheel on the FY33, because of larger front rotor diameter.

They'll wear much faster at high speeds, which sounds dangerous -- I drive at high speeds often. Speedo will be a bit off.

Agreed, high speeds and Minnesota snow are a bad combination.

Your speedo will be off and as long as all the tires are the same size then not much else (REALISTICALLY).

P.S. I have a set of 16 20 hole turbines (stock on my 97) that would be perfect for snow tires. I'll sell you them for cheap and they'll fit!![email protected]
