i just noticed this a few days ago. when the car sits overnight and is ice cold i noticed a slight grind shifting into 2nd and into 3rd. mind you the engine temp is cold and im shifting just over 2K rpms. once everything warms up it goes away. i just changed the gear oil to redline MT-90 about a week ago. it helped ALOT. before going into 1st from a stop was ridiculous. one thing that concerned me was that only about half a quart of gear oil came out of my trans and it was really dark and thick. i have NO idea how long it was in there for but it was way to long. i have a feeling my syncros are going. i found a rebuild kit at autozone for 150 bucks. how much are syncros from Nissan? i would rather have OEM parts. thanks guys!

I bet the clutch teeth on the speed gears are worn, as well has the syncro collars and the blocking rings. Try double clutching specially when down shifting.

You could try changing the gear oil again, as there was likely a lot of grung built up. Get the transmission good and warmed up before you drain.

But yea you prob have some wear, may need a rebuild. Where did all the oil go? have you checked the front and rear seals?

well when my friend did the manual swap, when he owned the car, he failed to mention that he spilled a "little" fluid. so that problems solved. i noticed my rear seal always appears wet like. no drips, puddles or anything tho. it warmed up outside here and shes been shifting very good now.
