ok im new to the world of nissan and know a lot about the 4g63t. all my knowledge of any automobiles has not helped me figure this problem out. i have the sohc ka24e and heres the problem:

in the morning, the car runs fine, very strong, runs great. after it warms up however, things start to get weird. first off, under normal driving conditions, normal throttle, "normal" everything, it feels like the power is being taken away. at about half throttle("normal") it feels like the power is being sucked away. that lasts for a couple seconds, then it feels like its being floored, only im still at normal throttle. this happens in all gears. then, occasionally, it is a total power loss, like power just stops and i slow down, even if i still have my foot on the gas. that usually only happens every so often and lasts anywhere from a couple seconds, to having to stop and turn the car off. usually during that time, flooring it will make it stop the jerking and go back to normal for a little bit.

i originally thought this was the fuel pump crappin out, but my mechanic says its just bad "winter" gas and vapor lock. he says that it is getting hot and boiling the fuel before it can get to the engine.

if this is the case, how can i fix it? i dont know much about these motors or if anyone has experienced this before, but im very particular about my car(s) and this needs to stop. any information or suggestions is greatly appreciated. thanks.

Well, since it seems to run fine during cold warm up and problems arise when its warm, i would check the cold warm up solenoid and connection. The solenoid can be staying on giving you similar problems.

Check your ignition system, check your fuel pressure, and run the codes on your ecu that might give you a better idea.

in addition to what devious said, understand that once the ECU sees the coolant temp rise, its switches from running in an open loop to a closed loop. ie, all sensors are now being used.

some other things to check: throttle position sensor, coolant temp sensor, and o2 sensor.

if you really suspect bad gas, top off the tank with premium... it should dilute it enough for you to comfortably run the car. when your through with that tank you may want to change the fuel filter since all that crap was running through it.
