my safc is seeing a slight knock at idle when the engine is warm. I was wondering if this was normal.

If the knock signal is set up properly, then you could be reading rod knock or one of several possible things. The KA is a noisy motor. But I had a case of rod knock awhile back and the knock sensor made the ecu pull out a ton of timing.

Running in perfect order, you shouldn't read any knock. But I'm not sure how accurate the SAFC is for reading knock. I used the MSD Knock Meter myself.

well it is fine until it gets warmed up, and it only does it at idle. It was doing the same thing on my other motor, but one of the wires was broken on it . I am going to try and reset the knock. If anyone has any other suggestions let me please let me know.

when the engine is completely warmed up it would read like 10-12 on the knock reading. that is completely normal, its just engine noise. when you start reading 60-100-200 thats when you gotta start tuning it down a notch.

you're supposed to set the knock on the safc when the engine is warm, so that it won't read that 10-12, it will read 0. That way the safc has a baseline to compare what noise is normal and what is knock.

i set it when its fully warmed up, however if you drive for over an hour esp in traffic on a warm day, it would read 10-12 no matter how you set it. like if i was to visit anthony down in south jersey, it he lives like 103 miles away from me, when i get to his house, my car would read 10-12 knock at idle. if i do my normal commute in a cool day which is a 30 mile commute, it would never go above zero.

yup same thing when I had mine. Thought you meant like right when you were warmed up before driving
