HEllo everyone, just one question. I have a 07 S with the 4 spd auto and 67,000kms and I noticed that on the highway if I give it a little bit of gas there is a slight hesitation, some days its worse then others. Im not sure what it could be. I tried fuel system cleaners and tried different types of gas from different gas stations. Any info would be helpful. Thank You!!

Can you describe this hesitation? Is the engine stumbling? Does nothing happen until a few milliseconds after you press the accelerator? Because you have a four speed automatic with overdrive, you will notice (for instance, while trying to pass another car), the transmission will downshift depending on how far you press the accelerator (depressing it slightly will generally not cause it to downshift; it might disengage the lockup torque converter, if equipped... depressing it half or full will cause it to shift to a lower gear). If the engine is stumbling (you will usually feel this), it will almost always be accompanied by a check engine light. If you are truly unsure, take it to the dealer and have it looked at. This is the type of problem many dealers will blow off, and pass it off as normal, so try to have a mechanic accompany you; they will generally be more honest if you're actually with them.

If it were me:

Take it to the dealer have them test it.

Stick with Esso/Shell/Petro Can for gas.

Adhere to the maintenance plan with a dealer.

Esso is actually the worst "name brand" gas

Shell is up to 10% ethanol [which we are to avoid]

which leaves PetroCan

[though I primarily use Shell -- airmiles, you know]

A good way to test the drive-by-wire system is to leave the car in Park with the engine running, and slowly increase the engine speed; if the engine stumbles at a certain point, you have a bad spot in the pedal potentiometer. Try not to go within 1,000 RPM of redline. But seriously, take it to the dealer!

I was trying to steer away from that issue we had locally in the past, where independents were compensating their lower prices by accepting commissions under the table - disposing of chemicals like toluene in their gas. Toluene produces drivability issues with the fuel pump/injector.

Thanks for all the reply's. Stumbling is a better way of explaining it. There are no codes and I stick to Esso and Petro for gas. The problem happen when I apply very little gas, not enough to make it down shift. IT stumbles about 3-4 times then its fine, it seems to be worse at around 100-120km/h. and it seems to be lacking power. I'm going to ask the dealer when I go in for my service but thats not for another 2000kms. I was asking you guys because im over the 60000 km warranty and im not sure whats still covered under the rest of the warranty. Thanks again everyone!!
