i just replaced my SR20DET with another, and got it all put back together, but had a couple issues....

1. When I got the new engine in, everything lined up perfectly as far as drivetrain, exhaust, etc.... everything except for the pipes on the turbo. The cold air intake pipe and the intercooler pipe do not line up any more. It seems as though the turbo charger sits about 3 inches closer to the front of the car. I had to cut back one of the intercooler pipes to make it line up. Any idea why?

2. The car started up almost immediately on the very first try! The problem is, it revved to 7000rpms by itself, then dropped to 3000 by itself, and now it sits at 3000 at idle. I have only tried it once, so I don't know if it will rev that high on the first start every time, but I did shut it off for a few minutes and fire it back up (didn't notice if it revved high or not). And it still idles at 3000. I can't tell if it sounds bad or not because there is no exhaust hooked up at all, not even a downpipe. I don't hear anything rough, scraping, knocking, ticking, or anything else, so I think it is ok, it just idles too high. I can't find where to adjust the idle at....

Lastly, the engine is blowing smoke. It seems to be a sorta bluish white. I am not worried about it at this point because I have no idea how long it has been since the engine was last started, so I assume it just needs to run for a little bit.

Get an exhaust hooked up and just let the car idle for a bit. There's probably some oil and other junk stuck in the cylinders that needs to be blown out. In my experience, expect the car to smoke and sputter a little while you get everything sorted after the first start up

Your initial spike may have just been some fluke. I've seen it happen before, and there's really no good explanation.

The idle adjust is a screw head between the third and second intake runner.

I got the exhaust hooked up and it still spikes when I first start it, but drops immediately after that.

I let it idle for about 10 minutes and it sounded too loud. Like a Harley. It was not that loud before and it has some dark colored smoke coming out.

Ok well, call me a moron if you want to, I already did...

I had forgotten to reconnect the lower IC pipe when I removed the IC so I could dry it out (I had a waterlocked engine). I reconnected that and the black smoke is completely gone and it doesn't sound like a Harley any more.

Of course, that can't possibly be the end of it for me sooooo.... Now the car revs past the redline right when I start it up and does NOT come back down. I was afraid to let it rev that high, so I shut it off right away. I waited a minute and tried again with the same results. I checked the throttle and it is not stuck in.

What would cause it to rev past the redline and stay there?

Aside from this, all I have left is to get my clutch working properly! :D

I can't believe I didn't notice this before, but with the key in the "On" position, I have NO power to ANYTHING anywhere at all except my in-dash LCD, but even with power, it won't operate. When I turn the key to "Start", the engine starts (revving immediately past the redline and staying there) and suddenly the instrument cluster and the windshield wipers get power. The power windows still do not work. I didn't test anything else. When the engine is turned to "Acc", power stays on to my LCD, but nothing else works. With the key off, nothing at all works, not even my dome light...

So, I need help with the revving problem first, power problem second, and still not quite sure what to do about the clutch....

The power problem could be a faulty relay.

As far as the revving issue, you might want to consider cleaning the IACV. If the valve is stuck open in it, the motor could easily be revving high because of it
