Since it's a "goast town" in here J/K. I thought I would ask a somewhat debatable question. I know that the 4 cylinder guys swear by sleeving to hold maximum boost. But is there any reason to sleeve the almighty RB26? I've made nearly 1000hp on a 2jz-gte and plan on the same with my RB26, no sleeves. Just wondering what other people think.

It's not so much the # of cylinders, as it is the block material. If the "4 cylinder" guys you are refering to are SR20 guys, then the reason they sleeve the blocks for high horsepower is because the blocks are alluminum and the cylinder walls are weaker.

With the RB and the 2JZ, the blocks are iron and do not need to be sleeved.

And I thought I was the only one to find my question a little fishy? Haha, re-reading my post I noticed that I for got some question marks. Instead of being witty, I'm just an idiot!!! Also I was referring to the Honda/Acura crowd as the "4 cylinder" guys. Thanks EZ

Kurt-

P.S. My point was to find out if anybody else knew the RB was an iron block. Sorry i'm a jackass.

apparently you haven't read some of the brainier threads and posts. You are going to have to try harder to lower yourself into "jackass" status, Our resident idiots have perfected their craft;)

Well, the Honda/Acura engines are nearly all alluminum. Only a few are iron.

Yeah, really, I mean he knew the RB block was not a 4 cylinder. That's already smarter than half the people on the boards :)

Yeah, but there is a difference between people who don't know, but want to learn, and ask valid question (you) vs. someone who says "my 240sx is faster than this 500HP viper, i owned it....but he wants to know what kind of engine i have, and i forgot, so what is the engine code again?"

That's the typical questions asked on here. :)

I should really do some forum reading, I guess? I wasn't aware of the stupidity.

well, not knowing much about the rb26 itself, but i hear its just as strong as the 2jz-gte, and if u got 1ooohp from teh 2JZ, then i dont se why u would have to sleeve the rb, however with these kinda numbers, id sleeve it just incase

It's a closed deck Iron block, what would you sleeve it with that would make it any stronger, Titanium?
