Sure beats the hell out of spinning the damn headlight motors one by one to get this effect everytime. I'm also interested.

I'd have to agree with swift that adjustable height woudl be cooler than blinky-eyes.

SWIFT_DRIFT:: "The pivot controller and the DIY switch both have the ability for you to leave the headlights on even while in sleepy mode. I'm not sure about the newer Pivot RHU-M, but my older model controller (RHU-X) has 8 different heights I can set the lights at. "

I currently have the RHU-M model installed in my S13.. it does not allow you to switch 'on' the headlights while in "lazy eye" mode. Also, the RHU-M allows up to 80 degrees of play by turning the knob, meaning you can lift the pop-ups anywhere from 1 degree all the way up to a full 80 degrees (which is maximum height/fully raised).. just lettin you kno~

Thanks for the info. Notice I said I didn't know anything about the rhu-m. Odd that you can't turn on the headlights, but I'm sure that can be fixed or slightly rewired.

THE BAD NEWS:

Due to time constraints (especially after some idiot rear-ended my car), I am no longer able to spend time on this project. The majority of the work has been done and tested, and the three basic functions have been tested: headlights up, headlights down, and sleepy eyes. I also wanted to implement a wink left and wink right button to move each headlight individually - the code for that has been implemented but not tested. I've also made provisions for an AUXillary output to control an additional device such as a chirper or alarm, and that can easy be programmed to activate (or deactivate) when any of the five buttons are pressed.

So for those of you who wanted a kit, sorry - there won't be one for anytime soon.

HOWEVER, THE GOOD NEWS IS:

I have decided to make all the information related to this project public on my website to allow others to be able to build this controller.

What would happen if you put screws in the bumper underneath the headlight so that it will stop the headlights at the heighth you leave the screw out. What I mean is the headlight will try to close but it will run into the screws that you have installed, kinda' like a stop. Maybe the motors will burn up I don't know? Anybody have any ideas?

I may decide to buy enough parts and pcbs to piece together around 5-10 of these controllers, but it would be a little more expensive as supposed to buying parts for 100 qty.

If anyone wants a demonstration of the controller on your S13, I'll be glad to hook it up and show it to you... that is, if you live in the orange county area and are willing to drive to my place.

You guys all realize that you can control the height level of your headlights without modification right?

Do the following:

-turn headlights on-turn headlights off then quickly on again after the headlights start closing

Turning the lights back on after they start closing will freeze them in place. They can be frozen at just about any height. Keep in mind you have to atleast have parking lights turned on.

Betta axe somebodeh!!

you can just cut the brown wire in the back of the headlight pop up switch. then when you turn the lights on and then turn them off with the headlight switch pushed in the headlights stay up. then just tap the pop up switch to get the desired height. only thing is that the headlights won't stay on when in sleepy eye mode. you've also got to turn the lights all the way off to get the switch to work the headlights. I've done it and it works well! and if you don't like it then just connect the brown wire again. easy!!

Are you guys serious about this mod? Can only some models do the manual sleepy eye?

Seriously thoughstep 1: turn light switch onstep 2: hit pop/up switch upstep 3: hit pop/up switch again (should stay up)step 3: turn light switch off step 4: while lamps are lowering quickly turn light switch on again

If this works for your car, you'll notice you can set different hieghts depending on when you do step 4.

Holl!
