I have a 91 240 and i have heard that you can pull your flip up switch out and cut one of the wires to stop the lights and make a sleepy eye set to save money. Does anyone know which one or ones to cut.

even easier is to just pull the headlight retractor relay. its in the relay box on the passenger side of the engine compartment with the fuses. pull that and you can crank your lights down by hand, real easy

you can manually crank the lights without doing anything other than popping your hood. No need to remove the relay. He wants to be able to do it from inside the car(correct me if I am wrong).

So why don't you just crank them up from the down position?

That's why those manual knobs are there in the first place.

Cuz that would be downright logical. When i got my car the headlight switch was broken, so the lights were stuck up and on. and unfortunately the only way to change that was to pull the fuses and take the battery cable off. but thats no good for the ecu so i had to get a new switch. Thats how i learned it was just easier to pull the relay. And uh, one of my headlight motors is most likely out so this way was always easiest for me

I'm not trying to start an argument. I did not know of your situation, therefore my posting wasn't intended for you. I posted to merely educate motormouth on what needed to be done. I assumed, since he stated that he wanted to stop them as they were in motion, that his headlights were in working order.

i do apologize i really wasnt tryin to start an argument at all either, i was just tryin to throw in what i thought was a real easy method. So you can still have workin headlights with that mod, thats awesome. I leave mine sleepy, and by the end of the day i should have finished a headlight conversion that uses a much smaller sealed beam light so my headlights actually point forward when they are down. Its way too easy, i'll let you know how shes turns out

Pics would be great too. That look is sick with the lights on and down.

i would love ta, but i got no camera. I'm gettin rid of the massive sylvania 6054s for a set of 4703's. They arent the right bulbs at all, and they are only lowbeams. So replacement sylvania 9003 XVs not only work, but fit right in. Using the stock headlight bracket and a new aluminium front piece to secure the headlight, you get a good fit and stock headlight adjustment. i only have one and a half done, but i will do my best to get some pics whenever i can

ok everyone, there is a thread about lazy eyes on here already.i have done it, it is the brown wire,it is fully functional and your lights will work fine. its a great mod and it literally took me 2 mintues to do and better than pulling any kind of relay and what not.

Alright, like previously mentioned, there are MANY sleepy eye mod threads started already.

In a nutshell, the easiest and most cost-effective way to pull this mod off goes as follows:------------------------------------------

1.) Get some electrical tape and a pair of wire cutters2.) See that button on the left of your steering wheel, the one with a picture of a headlight that manually raises and lowers your headlight motors? Pull the button OUT of the dash.3.) Find the brown wire in the cluster.4.) Cut it.5.) Use your tape on both ends to prevent possible shorting.6.) Pop the button back into your dash.7.) Push the button and use your headlight/signal knob to turn your headlights on. They should pop up and turn on.8.) Now turn them off - notice that since your hold wire was cut, your lights turn off but the motors do not lower the lights.9.) Now, manually push that button in and quickly push it out, continue this and notice how your headlights 'ratchet' down towards a lowered position.10.) Continue until your car looks WAY stoned.
