pull out the button control on the left side of the panel where you make your lights flip up and down. simply cut the brown wire and put it back in. to use it you turn your lights on. push the button and turn them off then tap the button twice. it takes a minute to get used to... done

Though this has been discussed, I will help just because I am sure you are worried (if its not figured out yet).

The headlamps should go up when you turn on the actual lights via the switch. Then just hit the pop-up light button, then turn lights off. Notice the units are still up? give it a quick double tap, wow its lower but still up. adust to liking and enjoy.

Did you make sure the headlight motors were plugged in? each has a plug kinda up in the air duct on each side. They wont do anything unplugged. Otherwise it sounds like you might have popped a fuse/relay which would just be coincedental timing. I havent messed with the lights in such a long time I cant remember where the fusing/relays are located.

Wow, sounds like someone might have been tampering with the wiring before you had the car. Either that or there is a bad connection/ground somewhere that comes with age. I cant really help anymore, I'd have to really be there in person to get further into that siince I've never seen/heard of that issue. Sorry but good luck, maybe someone else on here might know. For now I guess just solder the wire up?

I had the same problem when I tried it at first , you have to make sure that when you pull the button out you dont loosen the button up itself and make sure its not loose when you put it back in. I made sure it was snug and I havent had any problems since.
