I used the "cut the brown wire" thing the other day and it works. But the only problem is that the lights won't come back up. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to work, or if i effed it up majorly. Help me out?

Yes, then the buttom is released, the lights should go back down on there own.

If the button is depressed and the flip the high beams, the lights will come up, pause, then go back down.
