I was doing the wiring connection the the switch as described in the lit sleepy eye mod diy. I basically f-ed up and switch the ground and power wires and fried the switch, possibly the headlight motor relay, and possibly a ground wire or something.

The headlight are stuck up and my gauge cluster is acting up. When i start the car the cluster doesn't illuminate or do anything. But when i rev the motor a bit everything comes back to life, but the wipers cycle twice also. Plus the passive restaint turns on and sets itself F**king weird. I'm going to get a new relay tomorrow, but i'm not sure where to start with the other short.Any ideas??

That will be the time control unit

The easiest way to check it is to see if your wipers come on when using the windshield washer or if you still have the intermittent cycle.

I can't see that being the cause of my cluster wacking out though. I can only imagine there being a related problem causing the short. I'm going to check the wiper cycle and stuff though thanks.

Keep those ideas coming!

Ok, here's an updated description. It appears that a main power wire is fcuked up. The clock in the cluster doesn't stay on. Which should stay on always. The fuse panel doesn't get power with the key on. (which it should) but it gets power with the engine running. This is when the passive restraint turns on the wipers cycle and the cluster comes back to life.

Now also, sometimes nothing turns back on untill the engine is started and i give it gas.

I'm beginning to think that the main power wire may be semi shorted or there is a relay that delivers power to the fuse panel, and i shorted that. I did see relays behind the fuse panel but i'm not certain of their function.

Any of this sound possible, and/or do you know of a relay that powers the fuse panel??!!

dam dude sam exact thing is happening to mine.. what could it be???

the only way my lights go up is by the pop-up light switch or by putting on the high beams.... cause just turnin then on will make them stay down.... and they wont go down at all.... if u find out what this could be let me know

I just fixed this issue on my car.

It's the 75 amp fuse in the box next to the battery. It's got a clear top to it so just look inside and see if it's blown.

Mine was and the same thing...soon as the car was off the constant power from the batter was lost and the clock would die, gauge cluster wouldn't work etc.

When you turn the car back on, takes a sec but if you rev it, it all comes back because the power bypasses that fuse and comes directly from the alternator.

I got the part from my local nissan dealership for around 16 bucks I think.
