clutch went crazy today.. went down to the floor and stayed there! well i pull over and see the fluid is ALL empty.. so i go get some more , still won't work. SO my neighbor looks at it and said it must be leakin cuz we saw it the other day and it was full.. so he look under the car and sure enough it was the slave cylnider goin bad...

my question is wat is needed to be done to get the old one out and the new one in and me driving again??

btw i have a 91 240sx w/ the DOHC motor

unbolt the banjo bolt that holds the pressure line to the slave, the unbolt the two bolts that hold the slave to the bellhousing. replace in reverse order, then bleed like a brake system; fill the reservior, open bleeder and let it sit (or pump lightly) until fluid comes out. then close the bleeder, pump and hold, then crack the bleeder open and watch for air bubbles. repeat until pedal feels solid throughout it's travel.

make sure to watch the fluid level while doing it.

alright great stuffbut just to be sure a bad salve cylinder(i.e leaking) would cause the clutch poedal to have no pressure or feedback watsoever, correect... i mean it goes down in a snap and stays there til i pull it up by hand? i know the slave is leaking but i wanna be sure that when i replace it will be good and i should be fine.

did you bleed it? its a pain in the *** i had 2 people helping me and it took 15 mins one filling one pumping the pedal and me on the bleeder

air in the lines will cause it to stay on the floor make sure you tighten the bleeder while the pedal is still on the floor. then repeat a bunch then pump the pedal a few times to build pressure back up and you should be gold

wrap a wire around the pedal so you can pull back up on it easier when you're bleeding.also removing the dampening loop will make bleeding alot easier.

yeah its that box that the hard line dumps into before going to the slave. it has a bleeder valve, but that big loop of tubing just holds air. a few places sell a stainless line to bypass the box. you might have to rebend the hard line to get it match up. i also cut the hard line down and reflared it. that way i could use the stock mounting point.

o ic wat u r talking about now... but nonetheless i can still bleed with the little box still on right( just bleed like normal form the little 8mm valve on the slave, instead of the box?)

its recommended to bleed both. first the damper then the slave. or just take it off and only have one place to bleed from.
