I just went back an re-read ALL the threads discussing lowering of a 90-96 Q... The impression is that the Eibachs are a decent upgrade but primarily for looks, and a pretty benign modification.

I have an opportunity to buy some new springs designed for the 90-96 Q (at a significant discount) that provide a 2" drop. Again, I'm not seeking handling improvement so much as I am indulging my vain side and looking to diminish that horrendous wheelwell gap.

Therefore, a few questions:

1) Will these destroy my new Blues?2) Are they likely to ruin the ride characteristics?3) Will they throw the camber off too much?4) Will I be in danger of rubbing my 245/50's?

Go for it - I have my Nomex undergarments on.

Camber will be a problem. I have the Eibachs and just barely got a decent tire pattern with 3/8" shims under the front upper control arms and max settings front and rear.

it'll probably ride like crap and wear out your shocks 10X quicker and rub your tires. but, if they're cheap you could try them out if you really want to. or you could spend lots of money on the JIC Magic coilovers, or i'll sell you some used eibach's real cheap :D

With lower springs you have to make a compromise (in addition to camber issues)...make them stiffer than stock, let the car bottom out more often, or a combination of the 2. 2" seems like a lot considering the stock travel is only about 5" if I remember right. Bottoming out risks damaging something, so the spring would have to be really stiff relative to stock...small bumps would mean a much larger jolt to the rear end. Shouldn't have much of an impact on the Tokicos I don't think.

Take a 2-ton sled and lose 2" of suspension travel and the whole personality of the car changes. You'll be riding the bumpstops everytime you hit a cigarette butt. Unless you can somehow trim the bumpstops, add a new extended top hat, and fabricate a non-existent camber plate I'm afraid your love affair with your beautiful Q may be shortlived at best. I saw a great "looking" black Q45a (94-95) in Fairfield, CA two days ago. It had to have at least 10 deg. neg. camber in the rear. I actually followed him for awhile and it seemed to almost float along...I think he was afraid of the paint stripes. Be ready to spend even more Q dollars to keep the ship afloat. Resist the temptation AZ, we would hate to lose ya! If only I had an opinion.

Good points all.

The price is just damn irresistable, but then again I guess you get what you pay for. Seller says they ship a ton of them to Japan but then again those guys don't have the same concern for precision that we do. They're gonna slap 18x10"s and a widebody kit on it, and camber be damned.

I'll be curious to hear Dennis' response - I'm prepared for a tirade of mythical proportions...

Sultan, if you weren't kidding, email me about the Eibachs ASAP.

Remember two things: 1) Fender to wheel gap is invisible to the driver. 2) The suspension geometry is designed to work at that ride height.

If it really bothers you, I would recommend fitment of larger diameter tires, then use the 4.08 rear end.

The ghetto is bad. Don't go there.

If your looking to get rid of wheel gap, then just get some bigger rims. And im sure that the ride will suck.... And then you will look like a ricer, and not a Q driver....

Well, I'm dropping her anyway.

I've decided to go with the Eibachs instead. My wheel gap is .6" OVER what the FSM calls for, and that's with the same diameter as stock tires.

Beween the Eibachs, the FSTB, the Blues, the 20mm rear bar, all new poly bushings on the front and rear bar, and my new 255 Michelins, she should be about as close to "good handling" as her fat arse is gonna get (given my budget).

I'll probably pick up a set of the 2" drops to keep on hand, I'm sure they'll sell like crazy to some kid. They're chap enough that I can afford to throw 'em away if they don't sell.

If the fender gap is your main concern. Those chrome fender flares do a good job of filling in the gap. They are pretty cheap and easy to install. I also have 235/60 X15 with Eibachs and the gap with the chrome mouldings is almost nonexistant.

No offense, but I'd rather cut off my manhood with a rusty butter knife than have chrome fender trim. :D

I think the Eibachs should be sufficient.

Hello,,,, guysBeen awhile since I've been on ... I've had two sets of the Eibachs now. 1 inch in front and .8 inch in rear running Tokico Black on front and Blues on rear. Stillen adjustables. etc.. Most of the time I enjoy the ride and the way the car looks 245x45x17, but every now and then the speed bumps annoy me. On the hi-way their terrific ..

So far I haven't heard much bad about the Eibachs. Glad I'm gonna go with those.

Well, that would be the coup de grâce to slammin' Q. It would signify your commitment to the Pimp Rice look (as detailed by Diamond J) and distinguish you from a mere fashionista.:pimp

Better ask the wife first.

One dynamic consideration is what occurs when the steering is at or near full lock and suspension travel is required, like when encountering a bump or incline. Not a pretty sight.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t

I checked with mama.

She says if I was to buy chrome fender trim, I'd have no need for my manhood (and neither would she).

Eibachs it is. :D

mine will hit at full turn if i need to have one wheel on a drive way to uturn.but at 1 mile an hour no prob.never been bottomed on the street.hows my luck,im getting on a freeway late one night and all of a sudden somethings got stuck under front and was grinding on cement kinda like i was riding on something.as i merge this thing is still under there.i pull over and look uder it.a tow truck wheel stop(grey like the road) was stuck centerd under the transmission.im like WTF.hiwaqy 167 in kent.it was late so there were no cars so i tried to back up and swerve all over the place tring to unlodge it.and no i didnt have a jack w/me.now im getting pissed.manuvers were hopeless.then i saw a overpass up ahead.i punched it and headed for it.i was able to kinda jump the car of it.it worked.but i had to replace the plastic engine gaurd it was shattered.been driving low riders for over 20 years.this is the worst thing thats happened.besides being late to work 1 time a cat was sitting in the middle of the road and i was doing 50m in a 25 little street late night.unfortunatly squard off right down the middle,my 58 cant clear a pop can on its side .2" of ground under motor at best.poor cat.saw red eyes and bam.what am i writing this ,i dunno.

I originally put the chrome mouldings on to cover a dent as i was too cheap to have it repaired. Then they kind of grew on me and left them on even after I had it fixed. I think they go well with the chrome door handles and certain body colors like gold and silver). I agree that they have lost some appeal since the ricers have been putting them on their Hondas. I have even considered removing them from my 1969 Mercedes which came with them from the factory.
