Hello fellow Nico members. My name is Tyler. I'm 19 and live in OKlahoma. As i'm sure you can imagine, theres no place to legally drift around here, so i have to resort to the streets. I'm new to the Nissan game, i just got out of the Honda game. I traded my '94 Civic Hatch for this s14. The hatch had pretty much everything, swap, suspension, wheels. But anyways...

Alright. So this will be my build thread. Keep checking to find updates. I plan to keep this a steady going project.

Keep in mind as of today (9/15/08) I have had the car for about 2 Months, and i'm doing all of this with a job that pays $7/Hr. I believe in building the car, not buying it. That's why i work my *** off for the stuff i have.

Anyways.

Plans:Spacers (On order)SR20 swapWho knows after that.

the way it was when i got it.

Then, stock mustang wheels for a little bit.

Then for shats and giggles, Saleen wheels.

Now, the way the car sits.

Front Mount Kit came in yesterday.

Alright. The project has started!!! I'm in the process of getting my car ready for the swap. Unfortunately, I have to take my KA out and put it in a friends S14 because he blew his motor and I told him I would give him my KA and put it in for him. So, I'm a man of my word, I'm doing his car first. Then I'll get to mine. I have to send the harness off anyways, so it's not like I'll be able to drive it for a couple more weeks. But anyways. Heres pictures of the progress!!!

KA ready to be pulled.

Greg being a douche while I'm working on the car. He is the guy I'm doing all the work for, putting my KA in his car.

Next Day:Hoist hooked up to the motor.

KA Out.

The stock out of my KA. What clutch? Ha.

New vs. Old

Empty.

New clutch on the KA.

My SR. With the ACT Stage 3 Sprung 6 Puck.

Replacing throw out bearing.

New bearing on shift fork.

I finally got the chance to work on my car again. The weather was finally co-operating, so I started on the SR. Unfortunatly I didn't get to take much pictures of it going in the car. But I do have one of the motor in the car. I'm having to wait another week to get it running because I can't use my stock radiator. I just realized it this weekend. Haha. So I'll have to buy a radiator and go from there. Anyways, here's the SR in the car. I'm getting anxious now.

Stay tuned!

Well, I have had time to think. I don't have the money to send the harness off. Well, I do. But I don't want to pay someone to do something I'm sure I could figure out. So...I gave the F4 plug a shot. I used a source that seemed correct. If anyone could help me out, and let me know if it's correct, send me a message and I'll share my current pinout. I want this to be right. I don't want to have to pay. Anyways, Here's some pictures of the re-pinning process.

All the wires labeled of the Sr F4 plug.

The wires taken out of the plug.

Break time, for the best show ever created.

Anyways, back to work.

The plug, finished.

Send me a message if you think the final plug doesn't look correct. Please.

Well, the harness is in the car now. The fuel pump primes, and it turns over. But the company I bought the motor from didn't send me a ignitor. So now I'm waiting on that. But here's how the car looks right now.

and here's a video of it cranking over. Stay tuned! Hopefully my ignitor will be here this week.

Well, here it is. After months of hard work, the car starts. I don't know about you all, but this is the moment I've been waiting for. The car started up the first try. In the video I don't have all the vacuum lines hooked up so it idles pretty high, and runs REALLY rich. I need to wire in the SAFC to lean it out at idle. But anyways, here's the video.

Sr20 first start.

after seeing your car with saleen wheels.that made me want them bad!how heavy are they?

your car is def. beautiful

it seems you have the basic stuff out of the way.susp/ exhaust/ some exterior.

no plans of the in between before RBswap?any further suspension plans?chassis stiffening? since your interested in drifting.

Yeah, i had planned on getting the basic stuff. Tie rods, control arms, brakes, etc. That's all after i do the swap. I'm doing all this myself. I used to work at a performance shop here in Oklahoma. So i think i can handle it. Right now i drift it, mainly when it rains cause it's easier. I'm still a n00b, but got the E-brake technique down. I'll post some videos of that too. I'm sure i'll have alot of questions, since i'm still fresh to this Nissan game. But so far, i'm loving it.

honestly dude... I'd say go and complete your suspension (i.e. tie rods, tc rods, rucas, rear toe.... at least) before you even consider getting an RB25.

I mean, you can have soo much more fun with full suspension and some kind of locking diff (welded or 2 way) than having 200+ whp

not only that, but once you have a somewhat complete suspension setup, your car can better handle more power...

I mean, I'm not trying to bag on you or anything, but I bet at this ride height, you're car handles like sh*t

nice car though. it looks great

No, it's all good man. I'm here to learn too. I've raised the car since those pictures. It doesn't handle horrible. But thanks for the advice.

With painted centers I think those saleen wheels would be awesome.. The offsets seem almost perfect for an s14.

you really have to warm them up to get them to work properly. i notice a difference after i've been on the track for a while compared to when i first start... but i don't usually have a problem holding a line or anything with it
