I have a 90 240sx, and my engine was recently rebuilt (only been running for 3.5 weeks). there as been a loud rattle from the front of the engine. so today i pulled the valve cover to see if i could see anything out of the norm. everything looked fine, but i felt the tension on the chain. the Intake side (with the tensioner) feels like it should, but the exhaust side has what i would say is way to much slack in the chain. there is so much slack that i can almost pull it up and move a link up on the cam sprocket. I did not do the rebuild although i am wishing that i did, i left it to a local machine shop that pretty much did everything. what can i do to fix this problem? and what are problems it could cause? Thanks

Joe

I figured out the problem, its the tensioner is not working corectly, and alowing slack in the line. and it puts the slack in the exhuast side when i shut off the engine and it rolls slightly back. kind of sucks having to replace the timeing chain stuff so fast after rebuilding, but ohwell
