Thats true, I've seen that. There's a place about 10 minutes away from my house that holds the cars seized from port and I talked to one person there because I ran in there when I saw 2 R33's sitting there(they were beautiful) and they told me that they just take them from the port if it doesn't meet the standards, I guess no questions asked. But than again, I am in socal.BNR32 wrote:you know when cars get seized, when they get to port.
depending on where you are in colorado you don't have emissions, but a while back some dude had two skylines and went to jail for having them, they were illegally swapped is what i heard.dj_hype wrote:okay, here's a strange question. my r33 gts-t is state legal in MS. My drivers license is in Louisiana but the car is registered to my mom (who has a MS address). I have insurance on the car and am "staying" in CO (for school). i haven't been hassled yet and i know i'm always in-danger of losing my car.
but since the car is reg'd in MS, and I'm not a CO citizen, does my car have to meet CO standards (emissions, etc) or just MS standards (since that's where the car is registered)?
hmm, which vins? the only easily visible vin on my car is the one under the hood on the firewall. it sounds like if he went to jail for the cars and not tickets or something stupid like that, he had swapped vins from a 240 and was trying to pass the car off as a 240.the owl wrote:I don't know if he swapped them, but he was driving them around and came to a autox all the vins had tape on them, he then transfered the cars to his dads name when him and his wife went to jail they got out and still have the cars I think, unless they crushed them lol.

It's not that I think I'm smarter than the authorities. It's that I think once the car is passed customs, it doesn't really matter as much to them. My car has been listed as "Skyline" in the DMV records for over a year now and (knock on wood) nothing has happened to me yet. Sure it has a paper trail but like I said, I don't think the federal government is going to come after me for this.themadscientist wrote:zerothread/307056
It's coming gents. All these cars have a paper trail. It will start with the guys that are bringing them in. The records will lead the feds to you and you will be sad. Keep thinking you are smarter than the authorities. They have chosen so far not to really come after you but if and when they do they will find your car. I don't give a rats *** one way or the other, I don't live there. I would like to get a musclecar here but that is ridiculously easy compared to getting a Skyline there.
