Ok i'm sorry about posting something that has been posted a million times, but i'm considering buying an R33 that i found, and i was wondering how hard is it to register the car in California, the guy selling it says he has some connection and he can get it smogged for me for $4000 but id rather try and do a legal engine swap using some cheap engine that would be capable of passing and then take it back out after the test. Now is it the engine that's just illegal in California,or will they not pass it just because it's a skyline, because i know that there are a good amount of people in California that have legal Skyline's, so is it really that hard to get one registered in California or does anyone know of any smog shops in the bay area that don't care? Thanks for any help.

only company that can do it legally is Motorex (out of business).

talk to RB motoring if youre serious, but you wont like what they have to say

i say just give up on the dream. its more hassle than its worth. its just a car.

only skyline line that can be registered are 96-98 gts and gtr. if it's not that then federal government won't allow the car in. since it's here i bet it was shipped in pieces, ie drive train in one box, and car in the next. i if it is a 96-98 it has to be "imported" by a RI registered importer... ie motorex ...as joe said there out of business. in short give up it will cost you to much money. if you got time i mean like years wait until the car is 25 years old then registered it. but make sure you do the research on which paperwork you will need. here's a site to get you started if you want.

i'm in japan and wanted to bring back my 93 skyline... i've done the research... only get to take the engine

Ask these questions in the "skyline/GTR" forum with the 9000 other high schoolers wanting to buy a Skyline and drive it in the states. This forum is a tech forum about RB motors.

they are not a US "registered importer" for skylines. so its not legal

lets get something out of the way right now, just because a car gets a title/registration DOESNT MAKE IT LEGAL.

I didn't mean to sound like an a** like i did... But alot of people just like to speculate and ask sht for the wrong reason!! plus all I said was if he wanted something pay for it!!!

and if you want a skyline move somewhere where its legal???? what kind of sht is that??????. i'm sure ur SR or RB motor doesn't have a bar on it to smog it everytime you want it.... so why not just buy something thats already legal right???? point is , if you want it go buy it then worry about the registration later...

This subject have been covered a million times!!!

you are not a registered importer

again, just because you get a title and registration doesnt make it LEGAL.

i hope you never piss anyone off and they dont tip off the EPA/DOT about you.
