My friend told me that the skyline motor is pretty much the same as my engine, you think it'll go with the motor mounts? I found a r32 skyline motor, twin turbo. Anyone got any facts aboot this?

You were lied to. If you have the Infiniti I30, then you have the VQ30 engine which is nothing like the RB26DETT. The A32 Cefiro also came with the VQ engine. Unless you actually have the A31 Cefiro. That one came with either RB20E, RB20DE, RB25DE or RB20DET. I am not sure how hard it would be to switch to the RB26DETT, but I imagine the mounts being the same if you actually do have an RB in your car now. I know the people that do that swap into a 240sx, go with the RB25DET transmission, so I do not know whether your transmission would work with it.

Well, the VQ is in the current Skyline, albeit the VQ35DE/VQ35HR (and VQ37VHR for the '08 coupe) and not the VQ30DE.

You will have a hard time putting a drop-in dual-turbo inline 6 motor into the Maxima. If you want to do a motor upgrade, get a VQ35.

Any thing is possible if you have the time and money. How good are you at fabrication? If you were to cut out the fire wall, widen the transmission tunnel, relocate the fuel tank for the drive shaft, then fab up mounts to hold a 240sx independent rear suspention, then it would be possible. Let me know how that works out for you. I've pondered the idea, but it would be cheaper just to buy a G35 sedan.

Your friend is a doofus.

I30 is FWD, Skyline is RWD.

There's not a BIT of similarity between the 2 engines or cars.

You, SIR, are a mo-ron

Per the OP, the friend simply said "Skyline". The OP was the one looking at the wrong "Skyline" motor

Ah, I see... The original poster said "Skyline".

Hell, I own one and I STILL would never refer to it as a "Skyline", even tho it's called that in the home market.

OK, so yeah, the 02-06 "Skyline" engine (VQ35DE) is the same. Mounts will be different, you'll need a transaxle...

Better off just boosting the current engine or swapping in a newer VQ (which has the same 260 hp)

Nice. Let's downgrade to a 4-banger.

You'd have engine room for a easy turbo install at least, assuming you could find a transaxle to fit the Maxima and SR

So it'd be a hell of a lot easier to just supercharger it than? I don't know if my transmission will handle... Buggah is old.

That is one reallt oddball car. 2.5 liter V6 making 155 whopping hp and a goofy setup to boot. Retarded.

Now, let's not call each other names, however the opening post stated that he found a R32 with twin turbo, which would refer to the RB26DETT.Therefore everyone was correct in their assumption as to the difficulty of the install. Plus the new skyline motor has not been introduced yet, only its predecessor.Trust me a VQ turbo is potent enough.

Sorry Needygirl, but Stillen discontinued the supercharger two years ago for the maximas. Your best bet would be a custom turbo set up
